Two RevAgroForMed Demonstration Days were organised within the Tuscany Living Lab as part of the Summer Camp of the BSc programme in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies at the University of Florence.
The activities took place at the two Tuscan RevAgroForMed Lighthouse sites: MoLTE (Montepaldi Long-Term Experiment) and Poggio ai Legni Farm, and provided students with the opportunity to directly explore some of the agroecological innovations being tested within the project.
At MoLTE, participants visited the long-term experimental site and explored different approaches related to precision farming, composting and soil fertility management. The visit also included the experimental plots and the evolutionary populations of common wheat, offering the opportunity to discuss how crop diversification, organic amendments and precision approaches can contribute to more sustainable and resilient Mediterranean farming systems.
The second Demonstration Day took place at Poggio ai Legni Farm, where participants visited the experimental alfalfa plots established within RevAgroForMed to assess the effects of rhizobial inoculation. The visit provided a practical example of the use of biological inputs and legume-based systems to improve nutrient cycling and support more sustainable agricultural management.
Overall, the two Demonstration Days combined education, field demonstration and knowledge exchange, connecting university students with the research and innovation activities carried out within the RevAgroForMed Tuscany Living Lab and its Lighthouse sites.
