UPVM (Université Paul-Valery Montpellier 3) is a university specialising in literature, languages, arts, social sciences and humanities. Scientific activities are led by 20 research units, including the CEFE. CEFE (UMR 5175) is the largest French research center in Ecology and Evolutionary Ecology. It is a “mixed unit of research”, co-directed by 3 universities (Université de Montpellier ad Universite Paul-Valery Montpellier 3, Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes), CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), IRD (Institut pour la Recherche et le Développement). CEFE performs independent, fundamental scientific research on the dynamics of biodiversity, planetary environmental change, and sustainable development. People involved in RevAgroForMed work within the “Biodiversity and Conservation” department, in the team “anthropised systems ecology”. Most of the research concerns soil fauna communities, with 2 mains models: macrofauna (especially ground beetles and ants), and microarthropods (particularly Collembola).
